The Types of Dry Eye
Inadequate tears leads to Dry Eyes, but the reason for the inadequacies can differ. Dry Eyes is either caused by decreased tear production, or caused by your tears evaporating too quickly. Both of these causes could be due to the glands in your eyes not functioning properly:
Malfunctioning glands can’t take all the blame, there are other factors that can lead to both types of Dry Eyes:
Aqueous-Deficient Dry Eye:
Aging
Certain medications
LASIK
Certain medical conditions
Evaporative Dry Eye:
Wind, smoke and dry air
Blinking less
